Hi everyone, I noticed today that one of our DBs has a few feathers missing on one side of its neck. the other week there were signs of pairing off and nesting, tho haven't noticed anything obvious lately (but also haven't had time to sit and watch) so not sure if that is still happening. The site where they seemed to be nesting has not progressed any but they could have found another spot maybe.
I know they have also been moulting. My question is whether the missing feathers are likely to be due to pecking during mating, and if that is the case, would that suggest the bird is a hen?? I am trying to work out ways of sexing them while they display gender specific behaviours! Thank you for any insights. :)
