Hi all, its my first time here so please forgive me if my questions are trivial and have been asked before. I am fairly new to finches although I did successfully raise one clutch of gouldian babies sometime back. I live in a small unit and can only keep one cage. Is it wise to try and breed 2 pair of Gouldians in the one large cage, or will they fight etc? What is their usual breeding season? How should I aim for the best variety of colored offspring when choosing the parents? Thanks in advance for any help you can throw at an amatuer.

Regards - Moshe

Nothing is ever too trivial to ask.
I would suggest either one pair to a cage or three pairs of the same species if there is room. I found that two pairs in one cage will spend more time chasing and bickering, whereas one or three pairs get on with the business of breeding, this is also the case in an aviary setting.

Just go with 1 pr cause you will need room for young
