Gouldians are coming into their breeding season now. OB and african fires, I have separated my pairs to give them a break, the fire finches produced a clutch only weeks ago but the young died.
Cant speak about the other species as Ive never kept them.
Diane The difference between Genius and Stupidity is, Genius has it’s limits
The species you listed are generally free breeders, meaning they can nest most of the year round if you have compatible pairs.A lot of pairs will slow down or stop breeding during the hottest months.I`ve found in the climate i live in, birds seem most keen in April/May usually when i would like to go away fishing for a few weeks. They will breed through until about now when its getting real hot.You can control the breeding to a certain extent, paticularly with the species requiring live food but some pairs will make a start no matter what you do.
