The paddock I normally collect swamp grass is under about 2 metres of water. Last time it was this high, it took two hot dry summers to dry out. Lucky last season I retained a dozen small bags for myself. Sold the rest to a wholesaler. The proceeds used to purchase more birds.
I have once posted small bags- finch mix seed bags- through Aus Post, if I remember about $10-$15 to Wollongong for the bag. Goes on bag volume.
Not sure what to do next year?

Hi gomer, a few months back I brought a big bag from Peter mandry, he does send them via post but I'm not sure on cost because he dropped it off at my place. Might be alittle more expensive to since it seems theirs not much around?

I went out yesterday to see what areas had pickable swamp grass and not one of the places around here are even near dry.
Like Wagga said all water no grass. So two of the major grass producing areas will fail this year.
Some one else who can access it will make a killing I guess.

I haven't harvested any for a few years.Last year was good but I thought i would do it this summer.Maybe it will be dry enough in a month or so.Lake Wendoree in Ballarat would have been good the last few summers They were paying people to cart it away. Now they have a pipe line to it,You wont see tonnes of the stuff carted away daily over summer.
