Im checking out the possible colour combinations with Gouldians using the
Gouldian Genetic chart by Carlos Matos. Great program :!:

:?: One thing Im not too sure about, when the forecast results appear e.g.

50% Male >> Red / Black (Head) - Purple (Chest) - Green (Body)

or

25% Male >> Red / Black / Orange (Head) - Purple (Chest) - Green (Body)
25% Male >> Red / Black (Head) - Purple (Chest) - Green (Body)
25% Female >> Black / Orange (Head) - Purple (Chest) - Green (Body)

will the bird be any one of these colours shown
or show the first colour and split to the other colour shown

Carlos Matos has just made available Version 3 of the Gouldian Genetic Forecaster
You just need to email him and get a code, all the details arrive in his email
Ive just added the program to my pc and everything seems ok. It didnt delete his version 2 program I was using.

:D Yes I use that one too, I also use another one, cant find the link at the moment but you have to be connected to the net to use it.
With the Matos forecaster it can be used without being on the net

Yes Diane it does mean the bird will be the colour first mentioned and split for the other colours.
There are distinct advantages in growing up with a budgie breeder and all the genetics, you get to be moderately good with genetics (but not as good as the teacher) And the daughter is showing signs of being a bit of a genetics wiz too, (I should hope so with this double major in Biological and Environmental Sciences) my Zoolagist in training.
Must look up that 2nd forcaster for interests sake.

Ive learned a lot since I posted the question.

Its a subject Ive dabbled in since reading a article at school (many..many moons ago  ) about Mendel.
Came in handy for the dogs breeding, and now the birds.

Carlos Matos also does a Zeb forecaster.
