Hi all,

I am new to this forum and whilst browsing i was surprised how much knowledge there is here.I have two indoor aviaries at my house 10ft x 6ft x3ft and the other one is 6ft x 6ftx 3ft. Inside them i have greenfinches and even agate canaries.I have successfully bred greenfinches in these however had no luck yet with european siskins. My concern is why my siskin hens never tried even to build a nest knowing the fact that while the breeding season begins the male siskin always feed the hen and sing loudly while also sometimes i saw them chasing each other. I have three pairs of these siskins, tried several different nest sites(plastic type nests, wire nests, even i cut long flowers and tie them together and make a wire nest inside resembling like a whole in them for privacy). As a diet before the breeding season comes i start sprouting seeds give them broccoli, lettuce and even mealworms however they dont even try to touch the mealworms. I would like to see even some eggs even though they will not be fertile but at least you will have a hope.

This year i am trying my luck on the greensingers i am trying to cross breed with the grey singing hen.Would love that someone has passed from my experience.

well done with the greenfinches, and welcome to the forum :D
I don't think you'll find many people here who know at all about the euros, they cannot be kept in australia due to import bans.
Very pretty bird though :D
good luck with the singers!
