That's bad news on the loss of one  , there are a couple of members who have hand raised finch successfully.

I've presently got one at the weaning stage, heaps of character. I used Passwells Handrearing mix and fed it every 3 hours or so at the start using a syringe that I had drilled out to 3mm so that it could suck up the mixture. Store the powder in the freezer so it doesn't get moths/weevils in it. I also ground up some hulled millet/finch mix and added this to the feed. Just make sure its warm (mix with warm water) and try not to get any air in the syringe. Don't over extend the crop (overfeed). Make sure you clean around its beak and chest with warm water and cotton buds to get rid of any excess mixture. When it dries it can be hard to soften and remove especially on the chest feathers and the feeding nodules. Also lowers the risk of fungal infections. Rinse all materials after use in boiling water. Mine had a few feathers on it when it jumped ship and its eyes where not quite open. Yours sounds younger so I wish you the best of luck. Don't get too attached as I was gutted when my first attempt ended in distaster when my mini foxie took too much of a liking to the baby painted. Dogs/cats and birds definitley dont mix! Anyhow, good luck!

You done well . Now that is dedication . I once got a sea green parrot finch to the full feathered stage it would fly around the room and come back for a feed . But had trouble weaning it and it died , I was gutted . just don’t get to attached !!!
