Ive found with some of my younger birds the line between where the colours will be purple and yellow is more defined in a cock, the hens tend to have a softer blending of the youngsters colours. Dosnt work all the time.
With the fuller head look, watch when you see a adult cock bird really sing they sort of fluff up their head feathers making them look bigger, thats what I was meaning.
Jayburd is right the bird does have quite bright blue ring.
As west finch says the young males tend to try their singing skills.

Looks like a YH to me too. So as you say your pair of RH must both be split YH. Excellent looking young and quality pics.

Definitely YH, can see some yellow in his beak also. I think i can see some red in the other bird.

Glasses on and he's a cock indeed!! I just saw him singing. I watched them all and one of his brothers/sisters is also a OH. So there's 2 OH and 2 RH. but being OH has nothing to do with having a lighter green back. One of the lighter green back is a OH and one of the darker green too (which is the onein the pics above)I just wondered why two of them had those lighter green backs and thougt it might have something to do with their heed colours.. but obviously it doesn't

well, it looks like I'm going to have at least 4 YH !

and another two OH (it's funny that the chick that was first in showing some "colours" on his head, is now the last moulting!)
