We just had a wet day in SA and I had an idea to take the bird cage out in the rain for a short time to give birds a chance to get wet more than usual. The birds are going through a moult so I thought it might help them preen and condition their feathers a bit. There was no wind to speak of at the time.Am I risking their well being by my decision to shower them.Do any of you do this?

The two that got drenched didn't look happy and they stayed on the cage bottom other two held their feet and seemed ok on their perch and didn't get as wet.

as long as they have sections where they can escape the rain if they want to they should be fine, they just need the choice to move back in when they feel they're drenched enough!

Thanks spanna they had some fake green cover but obviously not enough to be classed as cover. If there is a next time I will cover half the top of cage with something as you said so they can make a choice.

I went out this afternoon and there were all the Gouldians sitting in the rain. Gee I wish they wouldn't but they love it
