Hi. I would only be introducing new pairs if there are already a few pairs in the aviary. With only 1 pair in there now, introducing more birds may cause too much stress as the birds are used to being on their own. It may lead to them abandoning the eggs and may lead to illness also from the stress. I would wait until the breeding season is over. How big is your aviary?

I wouldn't introduce new birds just yet. I would wait until the chicks are at least 10 days old and even then make sure the newcomers have been through a quarantine period. I don't think it is necessary to hold off until the end of season. When you say 'cage', how big is it? An aviary big enough to comfortably house 4 pairs of gouldians would need to be at least 2.5m x 1.5m.

Hi, Yes, I agree with other replies - Gouldians are naturally curious and introduced pairs will want to explore their new aviary which will stress the breeding pair. The only suggestion I would make if you still plan on adding new birds is to create privacy in between nests using branches, leaves and brush so nesting birds feel screened off a bit from others. Good luck with it all. Bunyip1.
