I was lucky enough to learn a lot from my father and his finch aviary but looking back he did things different to how things are done today .
Funny his first encounter with birds was as an off sider to his crazy Uncle who trapped birds around the Riverina for $$$$ .
He had a cocky that was kidnapped from a tree which they were dropping for firewood , no such thing as clipping wings back then , instead a great leg lock and heavy chain kept the pet under control ( well not really , every one in Finley knew the bird and would just return him ).
Sons g/fs Pop is a Parrot keeper and still feeds them Sunflower only , still packs too many birds in each aviary and the list of no nos goes on yet he breeds copious amounts of birds , to him that's how its done and its funny when he chips me because I'm wasting aviary space

So many times this forum ( and another 1 ) have helped me to understand bird keeping clearer . Google has helped me find birds and learn about their needs .
Even finding recipes for birds , how to build aviaries , where to buy medications you name it , its all there in Cyber space .....we are indeed in a good era .
Enough dribble .....
