According my research Baryard Grass = Echinochloa cruss-galli = Japanese millet = Echinochloa esculenta . Don't pay extra for what you might already have in your mix. It is a good seed I use heaps both as a dry seed and a green seed fed fresh as it is prolific and considered to be one of the rice industrys worst weeds where ever it is grown anywhere in the world.

You might get it in your seed Greg but we sure don't unfortunately....yep tis a weed but boy do the birds luv it.............haven't had it since the real Peppers Greens n grains and this one is hulled/gleaned as well.
Same family as Jap millet but that's where the comparison ends...........120x more preferred than Jap millet.........so mcuh so that my seed mix has no Jap millet instead opting for Siberian millet.
Jayburd twas a father son and daughter business.............unfortunately dad (Col) died and Gary And Merryn kept it goiing at a new property but they are no longer growing seed - more's the pity.

I was lucky in that friend was able to buy for me 4 bags of Peppers greens n grain from the last batch of bags packed. I tucked them away in a storage bin and only used it very very sparingly. The Australian grass finches loved it, next to no wastage a real bonus. I have just 1 bag left that I was keeping for that special waxbill in the future. That goodness they started a new line similar. I felt like a real scrooge with the original.

The sample I saw was a different colour that Peppers which was 'solved' when I realised that this barnyard grass had been hulled/gleaned (or whatever the correct word is!!) and was a whole seed making it very good value indeed.
With the linseed gone it would be perfect for tossing into the soaked seed mix as well I'd imagine as the other Greens n' Grains I have seen have had more "floaties" than the wreck of the Bismark in them!!
Even Peppers was not that great for soaking but this one should be a winner for that as well.
Be interested in what people think of it as I only had a small sample which lasted 3 nano-seconds!!!
I hear another 'rumour' that Elenbee have 'acquired' another quantity of good ole Mr Barnyard grass so looks like full steam ahead in the future for this product based on Col Peppers winner!!!!
