Ornilux Mikado glass (http://www.ornilux.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
I hope this becomes readibly available - outside of skyscraper construction. It would solve many a problem with using glass and keeping birds. Its got built in structures which only birds can see.
Very interesting stuff (part of the Biomimicry outputs) If I remember correctly they got the inspiration from spider webs.

If the glass is not used for viewing one can take white spray paint and spray the window from about 40cm away, thus covering the glass with a fine white spray, this will break the view but also allow the natural light to penetrate, it works really well.
