hi everyone,
i'm just getting back into finches after a long hiatus and would love to get an update on prices and availability of certain species.
when i bought my first longtails they were $26 a pair, redbrows and doublebars $12 a pair - what are the prices and availability of these birds in nsw nowadays?
what differences between breeder and shop prices?
thanks for your thoughts,
justin

Nowadays it's not uncommon for longtails - red beak $60 - yellow beak $40
Redbrows $70
D/B's $60
of course that can't be completely accurate. But that's the general idea.

shops (when they have these birds in which is uncommon) are often a lot more expensive

best to contact your local avian club and they will put you on to breeders in your area , bugger giving greedy pet shops your hard earned money ;)

there was a guy somewhere in the Hunter on Petlink selling Redheads for $10 a pair and Doublebars for $20 I think.......pretty dodgy, no-one breeds redheads in great numbers.....except for Mother Nature

All those birds need a licence in NSW, you can get a list of the birds you don't need a licence for here: http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/wildl ... ToKeep.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
