Hmmm buy first . I think Ive exhausted that tactic .
His argument is that when I'm having a bad day , going out and doing the aviaries ( especially with the cold weather coming ) makes me worse and prolongs the pain .
He cant do them himself ( hopeless ) Id have Finches eating nectar and Lorries eating Parrot mix
anyhoo Ill have to prove him wrong wont I ?
Class 2 hey . Big think , big think .

My Purple crowns are tops and absolutely no dramas with their room mates, the Blue Faced Parrot Finches..........I have 6 very squabbly Varieds maturing/pairing up.....I wouldnt risk them with the finches, but I think a pair on their own will be much more docile. The Littles are my favourite (thanks VR1ton ;) ).........there will be no problems with them and finches, but mine will still be going into a suspended on their own......
..when its finished
Hey Jayburd, just to let you know.....Swifties arent "pretty much almost extinct"......we get an influx up here every year.......there is certainly concern for them as their numbers are not what they used to be and they have life habits which render them highly vulnerable (ie flying across Bass Straight every year and doing a run up the coast in search of food....then back
.....the Bloodwoods are in flower here now, so they wont be long........I keep a close eye & ear when the Swamp Mahogany buds.......seems to be their favourite......there's a good spot which gets 50 or more for a few weeks......they love to eat lerp too.
Hey Deb........I have three young Purple Crowns ready to go
and their parents are working the box again now..........yep they're squirters, but they're so cute

Would 2 pairs of Purples go into a large suspended happily ?
They are cute Mickw , Im very impressed with the Lorrikeets and the Purples / Littles and Varieds are a nice pocket size bird.

Best with one pair in a suspended.....like everything else, they'll breed better.....but they will fit OK......my original pair shared their aviary with 5 of their young and 7 Blue Face OK..........but in the process of thinning them all out now.
They're all tops......until you leg band them like I did the other day
......the PCs and Littles were easy and happy enough......The Varieds have a bit more power in the beak.......and sharper

PCs are probably the cheapest of the three........anything from $180-$260/pr......Littles range from $200-$300/pr and Varieds are $300-$360/pr
You pretty much have to DNA sex PCs and Littles..........Varieds can be visually sexed but DNA is still the go with that sort of outlay
I reckon they're all pretty much the same care-wise......so far!......The Littles are the quietest and least bitey.......Got mine from three different breeders who all keep/have kept all three species. All of them found the three species to be free breeding provided you're set-up and care regime is up to scratch.
Did I mention I'll also have some Varieds for sale once I work out which pairs I'm keeping?
