Possible Sick Bird

Bought 2 Canaries over the weekend. The one in the picture, still puffy and not really active but is eating and drinking.

I have never personally kept finches but I would catch the bird up and have a feel of the breast area to look for signs of going light- or weight loss. The keel (breast bone) will be quite obvious. While you have the bird put its face close to your ear and see if there are any clicking sounds as it could be airsac mites. I do know that canaries are quite prone to this. I would then put it in a hospital cage indoors with a heat lanp and feed plenty of good seed and put some spark into the water and see how it goes.

Put some white paper down in the hospital cage and see what colour the droppings are coming out as. Have you got yourself a good book on finch/canary health and diseases to help with any diagnosis?

My son says he or she could be pregnant as it was siting in the gravity feeder.So we put some canary nests in .

Tried the clicking noise thing today all seems ok

Tried to get some air sac medication today but no one sells it in newcastle,the local avian vet said he has it but will not sell it over the counter we must bring all birds in so he can charge me 110 dollars to see them(no thanks) plus meds.

Def bring it inside with some heat and some electrolytes or even a weak solution of glucose ...offer food and water of course.
I think Iaos was offering you some meds in another post , might be worthwhile sending him a pm .
Actually I would bring them both inside in case the one left out pines for the other .

Have u wormed ur bird yet. Sounds like it might have worms being fluffed and eating all the time, if not it still won't hurt. Worm all my birds when I buy them best to be safe coz they're easily transfered.

Unless the bird is flying freely and hopping around happily I wouldn't worm just yet, as said before supply a warm environment and some electrolytes, The bird needs to get over the shock and settle before any other stresses are added to it's system.

Both birds have now settled in and are looking a lot better after the Tonix jusdeb gave me.
Ian gave me some medication for air sac mite is now a good time to give it??????
Should i worm now???????????/
