Same djb . I'm curious to know why they aren't around too and yes they are bloody gawjus looking birds .

There are a few different types of bullfinch they spread right across the northen hemasphere threw europe and down to the northen parts of africa but not in america they are a biggish bird that requires quite a lot of livefood I kept them back when I was living in the uk do well on a seed mix of canary style and bigger they loved blackberries as well and they are are an excellent bird but can bully smaller birds mine was kept in an aviary by there selves and produced a couple of broods they get quite tame as well coming to the wire for treats.

The last ones I saw here in Australia were in the mid 80's.
Quite a big finch but very beautiful especially the male.
They are harder to manage than other European species kept here, also they are high on the NO NO class as the authorities here and over seas fear that they would establish wild colonies and damage fruit crops as they seem to love the fruit tree buds.
