Good on ya Jusdeb. I was wondering if its normal for them to breed at this time of year ? I kept them many years ago but they were strict in that they would only breed Nov (ish) and sometimes double clutch but they wouldnt breed outside this period. have they lost that instinct or is it just a bit abnormal ?

I was a bit curious also so googled and then rang the breeder of the last pair I bought and yes June starts breeding season .

I thought the same about my Quarrions who prefer to breed in winter also .

I had in the back of my head issues about days being shorter and the cold nights ... anyhoo it is a worry and I would prefer young born in warmer weather but the only way to ensure that would be to remove nest boxes and knowing my luck they would either not breed or my girls would become egg bound .

Bird care say ...Nesting months: August to December

Parrot info say ...Breeding begins in April. (Qld site )

I think they just do want they want :D

Thanks Jluna , I was very reluctant to check the ones that I took away from the parents this morning but happily they were fine , eating and sunning themselves .
Even though they were old enough it still is a worry .

The way the weather had been it seems to have changed the way the birds are breeding, if at all. I think we can expect a few changes in the times the birds breed for this year at least.

Big chance Di , look at the summer we had here , very few days over 35 and floods and that stinking humidity . Perhaps the birds here think Autumn is Spring .

Who knows ?
