help please first time breeder

hi i just started breeding birds and i have a pair of zebra finchs the had 2 little chick thier about 2 weeks old but very small and the parents got out of cage this morning and i dont no what to do with chicks i really want to help them but dont no how what will i do please help tanks

The parental bond is very strong I suggest that they won't go far and you can try to catch tehm. Some dedicated people are able to hand rear but I've never succeeded. If you can't recapture the parents I think you'd better start again. Sorry :cry:

Do you have any friends that have birds (zebs or Bengalese) that have chicks of a similar age in the nest? If you do them you might give it a go and try to get them fostered, otherwise hand rearing with a commercial handrearing mix is the only option but it is hard work and time conuming, not to mention heartbreaking because finches are very delicate. Time is of the essence at this stage as the chicks need regular feeding and the clock is ticking. Can you leave the cage door open so they can come back? I don't envy your situation. There is a lot of info on the internet in regards to handrearing and methods so good luck.
