Knowing little with regard Gouldian mutations what do I have.
Yellow backs, purple chests and the young fledged so far are cream coloured.
They don't seem to have any green through the back colour.
In another aviary I have a male that is lighter green backed( I think a single factor) and a normal looking hen.
Their 1st clutch were 2 normal coloured chicks and 3 cream coloured,in the nest now their are 4 cream coloured chicks and 1 normal looking.
Can these also be sexed now. like normals are hens etc

The PC YB pair with the cream coloured young should produce DF cocks and yellow hens
The SF cock and the normal hen should produce SF cocks , normal cocks, and normal hens, any yellows should be hens

OK now what does a Double Factor look like and what does a Single Factor look like
And do you only get DF and SF's in cockbirds.
I once thought birdkeeping was simple.

Orix,
You can only get Double factors in cocks. They are the clean yellow-backed ones where the black has faded to white. Single factor cocks look like a pastel/lime colour on the back & the black has faded to grey. All yellow-backed hens are single factor only as the mutation is sex-linked & dominant.

With the normal yellows a RH PC SF cock would appear RH PC light green back
a DF would be BH PC YB
If the birds had white chests they would appear as
SF = RH WC YB (blue line around the neck)
DF = RH WC YB (NO blue line around the neck)

Thanks now I can go forth even if it is only a little step out of the fog.
Last question You can't get a double factor purple breast RED head right. Just a mirky grey head sorry blackhead.
By the way these posts should be transferred to the Gouldian section as they make sense even to me
