I have a funny feeling this finch keeping business is going to become a life long hobby for me somehow.
Yes, it is called "addiction"   ... We started less than one year ago I think, with 8 birds and one aviary.... We now have 20 adult finches, 25 or so young, 3 pairs of quails, 4 quail chicks and a two more clutches on the way, and we are picking up our third aviary on Saturday....
Wow! Yeah just learning and reading about them the last few days has been really fun. I'm really excited for getting an aviary and more varieties and when they lay eggs etc. I think my family is moving house next year sometime and when they upgrade I know I can :) and I can tell its something my dad could get into..

Remember to tell Dad it is a great bonding thing you can do together. Follow the advice you have been given and your finches should be just fine. Good luck and hope to hear regular updates on how things are going.

Sorry to bump this thread guys but I need some advice (again :sweatdrop: ) Thismorning when I got up my sister pointed out to me that the little hens leg is quite red. I'm not sure if it's been like this since the little accident or if it's just come up. She seems fine, is eating, sitting their watching Romeo jump around the cage like a lunatic. Just worried about her little leg. After her toe was damaged some antibiotic powder was put on it to stop the bleeding etc.

Good news too, I've been dropping hints about an aviary and my mum is pretty keen to get one now haha. We have been looking at some of the patio aviaries on wheels, they are very tall, but just as wide as the cage I have at the moment. Is it possible to get long cages on wheels?
