I bought some worming liquid to worm the finches but I just realized I'm not sure when they last got wormed/or if they were wormed at all.. Can I worm them now? Or should I wait a few months?

I would suggest that when you do worm your birds mark it in a calendar just done mine yesterday. I don't see a problem doing it now, brought my cordons yesterday and they were wormed 2 months ago so I wormed them with the rest so there next lot will be about 4 months from now.

Is there any risks with worming my birds because I've never done it before??

Yeah I've had them for about 3/4 weeks now, and we had them at work for a few weeks before that (and we don't worm the birds at work) so I was just worried about overdosing them if they'd been wormed before they came to the shop. Is there any side effects if they are wormed too often?

It depends on which wormer you are using and how much the birds drink.
Some wormers eg moxidectin and ivermectin have a very large safety margin. Others eg levamisole can lead to toxicity if they drink too much eg during hot weather.
At this time of year they are unlikely to drink too much and are less likely to be breeding.
Tell us the name of the wormer, including the active ingredient ( usually seen in smaller letters under the name of the wormer) and we can give you more specific advice.

I bought Avirolplus
it says its a syrup concentrate
its Active ingredients are
10mg/ml Levamisole Hydrochloride equiv to
8.48mg/ml Levamisole base
2mg/ml Praziquantel
It says not to use in Gouldians
Precautions:
Parrots and finches appear to be less tolerant than pigeons to Levamisole therefore caution is urged when treating these breeds.
I think that last one answers my question...
