Have a look in this section Brett, there are loads of pics of different sales around the country.

The amount of finches varies, yes you can buy them. There is usually several tables of traders selling everything from legbands to boxes and nesting materials.

The prices from some sellers will drop at the end of the sale.It depends on what your idea of a good deal is ? Monetary value or Quality birds. The good quality birds will generally sell first, Leaving either nothing what you want at the end of the sale, or the less quality birds or just birds no one was after.I always think if there is something you really want, buy it as it maybe gone 5 mins later. If you are wanting a monetary bargain then by all means wait and see whats left at the end.Brett wrote:I was thinking that we might get good deals at the end of the show.

It is false economy waiting for bargains at the end of a sale.
You can be lucky but the risks are high.
Generally all the GOOD YOUNG birds sell first as the smart buyers pick them.
Ask yourself why didn't the birds sell early and more importantly why is the seller dropping his price. Sure there maybe more than the buyers require and the seller may just not want to take them home but is it worth the risk.
You don't have to wait until the end of the sale ask the question when you want to the only thing the seller can do is say yes or no
Just remember the best buy may not be the cheapest
My personal action is I just take them home either to sell at another sale or out of my backyard.
A tip on buying birds, look at the selling boxes or cages the birds are held in.Are they clean, well maintained and display the birds well
or rough. dirty. unorganised and do not show off the birds. Now think about this if their cages are dirty etc what condition are their aviaries at home.
If someone goes to the trouble of displaying his birds well don't you think the same mindset is back at home as well. They are the ones to buy the birds from.
That is my opinion anyway.

Chances are that if you look to acquire breeding stock from price bargains which most other people have passed by, the quality of young birds which they produce is not likely to be very attractive to others when you have surplus.
