Photo 1: Dad and 3 feathered not such babies any more. This is the male that lost his mate the day the babies ventured out of the nest for the first time. There were 5 babies but the 5th died on the 2nd day out of the nest.

Nice looking babies spoton especially as he's been feeding them alone. Why is it that gouldian babies seem to always look so big?

Re: size of the babies - Have wondered that myself Redwing. As for the male, I can remember watching him for hours flying to the 4 young ones even if they were not calling to him. He seemed to have it down pat - literally never fed the same bird twice!!!

I am getting him a new mate once my BH's babies are flying around as do not want to upset the balance of the aviary.

That male is either really small or those babies a freaking giants, by the way they look really good and well fed. :D

Hey Finchman,

Not sure if the male RH is small but he was same size as other RH males when I first purchased him. He is also same size as the BH male I have. I will try and get some pics of the 2 males together for a comparison.
