We were there at opening time but did not do any buying.Spanna my wife commented on how excited your lady looked when buying finches, don't see too many
problems. Sorry I didn't meet any others but how do you know who is who if you haven't met them before?perhaps we need some visible sign, as Poita
said a sausage sizzle would be a good way to meet.

Great move with getting the other half excited about birds- well done. Now you've just got to keep the interest going, without pushing too hard. Good luck mate!

but they are exceedingly stupid.
I put my pair in the aviary, and they landed on a perch, all looked ine. I settled back in my chair to observe, and the pictas went SPASTIC!! they hurled themselves against the wire time after time... I put a bit of brush there in the end and they just continued to bounce off it

I still have no idea why....

was going to introduce a few people but never saw any 2 at the same time!! or at least i didn't think so... was pretty focused on the birds to be honest

don't worry myzo, i'll be observing the quarantine, as much as it kills me! for at least 3 weeks anyway...
my boy does like to jump up and down flapping his wings for s bit haha, but in my aviaries i think he'll have plenty of other things to do than hit the wire!

yeah i know what you mean, she's so psyched. got them home and the first thing she did (after we got them rung and in holding) was get hold of BOTH of my Kingston books and read up absolutely everything she could, wants me to a few extra things for them too!!bushranger wrote:Spanna my wife commented on how excited your lady looked when buying finches, don't see too many

Congratulations on the purchases everyone. Oh to have an ordered life where I can pop down to the city for sales. Or any other reason. Instead of having hubby say "Holidays cancelled too busy" Ah well, work does pay the bills. Maybe I will make it down mid July.

We didn't get there at all, spent the afternoon getting one of our aviary unstuck from the pavers (that was fun!!!) so we can turn out around 45 degrees to make room for our new one... Trying to move an aviary with 20 or so birds in it was something else... figured it was going to be less disruptive that catching them, putting them somewhere else and the catching them and moving them back again....
so i guess we will need to wait till the next finch sale...

Sorry you couldn't make it Flap and Finchbreeder. You might have to jump on the bus one weekend Finchbreeder if you can't get down together. I sold everything except 2 female painteds. Everyone must have had a good run of them lately as I noticed that all the males had sold but lots of females left by this afternoon. Anyway great weekend and know what to expect next time. Still selling right up to closing time today.

I ended up buying a nice YH Normal young gouldian for $15 in the carpark on the way out !! So i didn,t come home empty handed.
As for the " Barbie at Pete,s, count me in as it would be great to meet other members !!
I presume Pete will be putting on a couple of keg,s for the ocassion ?? Hahahaa.
