Hi,
do female green singers sing?
I just wanna know if they do or if I got jibbed and got a male.
I have a pair that are meant to be this seasons birds.
Cheers,
Soph

Has your female got the necklace. If it has it is a hen but also young cockbirds will have the ring of feathers as well but often the ring will be broken as he moults.I can't remember if hens whistle.

yeah she does have the necklace and I check her closely everyday to see if she moults out of it. Fingers crossed its a female. She only does short whistles but she's more vocal then the actual male, I've never geard him whistle or hardly churp...... hmmmmm bit of a gender swap lol
oh well I will have to wait and see what happens i guess

My green singer hen gets pretty vocal but not as much as the cock. Its a rather stunted version of the males song.I have on several occasions played back a recording of their singing to them. The pair who are generally quiet both burst into action and become very vocal.Might be worth a try and see if it fires your cockbird into action.
