Are they that bad ? What type of hiding places would make life easier for the girl ?
Im not talking conventional cabinets , perhaps mine could be tweaked to give the girl somewhere to hide .
This is my cabinet ....

I have A pair Blue face the aviary is 3.6m x 2m x 2m she needs the whole aviary, 2 pair red face one male was good the other had to be replaced, he liked to share, 2 pair sea green, same thing males can be aggressive, hens need a lot of room, on the plus they are never boring always good to watch, and will eat anything you put in there, easy to breed but do better with a little live food, hope this helps.

Red or blue faced go pretty good in cabinets. I actually find it easier to keep the cock birds lean in the cabinets than in an aviary. At least in a cabinet you can control the diet for each pair, so if a pair isn't feeding young, they don't get all the goodies, whereas in the aviary there is always something rearing chicks needing livefood and being parrot finches, those not breeding will still gorge themselves. I bought a pair of sea greens recently just to mix up my bloodlines a bit and the cock bird was a bit chubby and he came from an aviary. I've housed him in a cabinet since, feeding him finch mix without canary and now hes perfect.
I personally haven't had any real problems with overly aggressive cock birds but I would definately recommend separating them after their 3 clutches as the hens will burnout. The only downside in my opinion, is parrot finches are flighty. Even young that are raised in cabinets fly all over the place whenever you go near the cage.

you could always go the one male to two female option deb. the male blue face can be a bit of a pain during breeding season, the hen can loose a few feathers from the back of the head , they can gain weight from over indulging in soft food. never tried them in cabinet/ small cage , would be interested how it will go....pete

While my personal opinion is aviary rather than cage breeding I would like to point out that one of the reasons Blue Faced P/F are so common today is because they were basically established by using cage breeding methods. The same applied to green Singers, Red Siskins to name a few species.
The main thing to remember when cage breeding is you must observe the birds frequently and also touch with your eyes not your fingers.
