Feeling excited about our new set up of cages and birds so thought I would share (though it is probably a bit like holiday snapshots... ;)). We now have 3 aviaries, with 4 separate areas. One larger one (2.85x1.5) where we have our mixed collection. Then two smaller ones, both 2.3x1.5 one for our gouldians, and the other one (which is divided in two sections) for smaller groups of birds or as holding aviaries (currently has our YH on one side, and juvenile goulds colouring up on the other). It also allows us to split the quails up when it is time to take the males out, and play around with having different birds in different areas. We are finishign up the weather proofing today, and adding perches/shrubbery, in time for our YH fledgelings to be allowed out of breeding cages in a few days. We can now start to rationalise our bird collection and work out what we want to focus on. It is very exciting. Also picked up two breeding logs to use next season for the gouldians, with some modification. Now can't wait for all our juvenile birds to colour up! Just thought I would share, as our family/friends don't really get it, just think we are crazy!!!!

Have added a photo in the aviaries section. Had written a post explaining the whole set up but lost it thanks to my silly computer and have no time (or inclination...) to retype it at the moment. So now we can finally just focus on the birds and fine tuning the interior of each aviary.
