I was wondering what do you feed your gouldians that they breed so well I had my finches attempt to breed but the never manage to get through the second week the babies hatch and they always let them die I wish my finches where good parents if you can share something please P.M. I wish I could spend all day with my finches but high school is a lot of work
This is what I do daily
Change water
clean seeds
give veggies/fruits
get plenty of sunshine
get millet spray
calcium
minerals
variety of seeds
what else can I do so they can become successful ??

I know he's a POM but I'd defer to Mike Fidler on this one. Have a read of "Gouldian Life Cycle Calendar" on the Save The Gouldian site http://savethegouldian.org/articles/mik ... ticle.html. He also has another good nutrition article "Some lesser known ASPECTS OF NUTRITION" on the Birds R Us site http://www.birdsrus.com.au/?page=162. That should keep you busy but as to why your birds toss their young I can't offer any advice. My experience is that Gouldians are good parents but this may be down to the individual or the blood line.

You are feeding more than enough for them to raise young successfully provided it is available consistently. I know back when I was in school, I would feed everything they could ever need but I wasn't feeding them on a strict routine. Some days they would get all their greens in the morning, some days not until the afternoon. You need to make sure they are fed their greens and soft foods early each morning.

Some pairs when young just take a while to get things right too. I have one young pair this season that haven't got past a week of incubating in three attempts. Next year they will probably be perfect parents.

Just be patient with them and keep giving them the right diet.

Probably it will because all I want to see is one baby bird that is all you know just to say hey this little guy was born here something to be proud of. I'm proud of my birds and all but to see that you have succeeded makes you feel better . I hope you can understand
