Contact Bruce Hockley Pres of the Hunter Club h should have some ideas to assist.
If you havn't a contact number PM me.
If you dont know any bird clubs maybe you should message E Orix as he suggested and he can put you in touch with at least one club, they will Im sure know of others and that way you can expand your search, and at least others with finches will know you are in need and looking.

Zebra finches will be fine in cages; people breed them this way and have also housed them temporary like this before they have built their main aviary.
It is amazing what can be modified that you may have around the house- Plastic cube storage boxes can be converted easily into a temporary holding cage or even an old TV cabinet can be made into a holding cage.
You could also easily build a cabinet box from scratch – look at acquiring some building materials...

Hammer is right , in a fix a plastic tub with some holes drilled into the top to hold wire will suffice as a temp cage ...Ive done this to house a Injured Rosella .
Anything dry and weather proof will do as a temp cage for them .
Once you get them out of the aviary you can have a breather and plan another more weather proof aviary .
Good luck Im sure it will work out OK .

You could try and pm fjb64. I think he comes from the Cessnock area.
Failing that, give Birds R Us a call and find out if they will take your surplus birds and if they know anyone that could hold your pair with fledglings for you.
