We have quails spread out throughout our cages, just wondering at what point is it ok to remove them from the parents? They are not quite totally feathered yet (heads still have some down) and bib becoming apparent on the males. I think they are approx. 4 weeks old. is it too early to move them?

Perfect time to move them, any longer the male might have a go at his sons, seeing them as a threat for his breeding rights

We have already moved the males, for exactly that reason. two of the males are together, no problems, the third one is in a cage on his own and going stir crazy so wondering when can I take the chicks out to put the male back with the hen.

once the body is feathered you should have no worries, they are no longer getting any heat from their parents, but will still follow them around till their driven away.

Great thanks VR1. Too late to move them today, might do it tomorrow or next weekend.
