Am I to assume that you are going to call the hybrids " Zebrieties or Sobras".
Both sound nice, but don't give them any alcohol!
Ha! You got it.

Sure. It's almost midnight here (long day). I'll get a pic tomorrow to post :)

Almost lost Sobra today. I'm really showing how much of a newbie I am. Sobra found a little gap in the aviary and got out. I couldn't believe it as I thought that I really had gone over it with a fine-toothed comb to make sure it was secure. I looked and looked to find where she could possibly get through, but finally found it.

I had quite a time catching her, but fortunately she kept coming back "home" to respond to her father's calls. I climbed up in a bush that's adjacent to the aviary to try to catch her but she just kept getting out of my reach. Also tried getting up on the roof of our house (aviary is adjacent to the house) but while it took me 5 minutes to get to her position, it took her 1/2 second to get to a new position. Finally, at night I realized I had the advantage and shined a light to keep her blinded and caught her. It took a couple of hours (between that and finding/fixing the gap) but was so happy to have her back. She flew straight to papa and started begging for food. All is good :D

So glad you got her back. Yep, the things we do for our birds!

Yes, especially considering the timing. I had spent the afternoon cutting wood and burning brush with my dad. It was a hot, hard day and I was covered in grime/sawdust covered sweat. On the drive home, all I could think about was taking a shower and getting some food.

I walked in the house, got ready for my shower and took a look at my birds. When I saw Sobra on the outside of the aviary my heart sank. But I was so relieved and happy to get her back in safely.

Here are images of the two cuties. The Zebra is Poppa.

Are these the two hybrid zeb X society young ones?
If so I'm not so sure , from the photo's that there is very much society finch in there!
They really just look like young zebs.
Was there a hen zeb in the same aviary?
What do other members think? :?

I agree, the beak is usually a dead give-away. The Societies may be helping feed but not the parents. Time will tell.

I would have to agree with the above, looks to me like zebs, but will tell if any bengo colouring after next moult, but as saying before from the body structure, head to tail it looks like zeb.

Look just like baby zebs as the other posts suggest. Are you sure one of the bengalese wasnt just feeding the the young and not actually a parent.

Don't know tintola, the heads still seem a bit different between the two, but still may be a hybrid would like to see an adult picture when sierranomad's fledgling's moult next, will be interesting to see what colours they will become or even have a cheek patch. What colour is the bengo parent? And is that the father in the picture?
