Just a thought but maybe one of the experienced hand rearers on the forum could put together a page for those in crisis. Ive seen a lot posts and i think even the odd person has joined just to ask how to.It seems to me that people are in panic mode and jump on the forum asking questions to which they get many and varied responses. Not sure what other members think but an easily accessible page could help answer many questions on feeding, housing and general care of a baby finch.Ive never tried to hand rear one and take my hat off to those willing to give it a go.

Good idea . Maybe a list of equipment to have on hand too , because these things always happen in the middle of the night on a long weekend with nothing open .

Ok who wants to put their hand up for this? Certainly cant be me as I have no experience at all with hand feeding and desperately need the advice.
Only thing I can add to the topic is......
Did hear that someone overseas uses a fine artists brush to feed the smaller finches. Thought that was a great idea.

i considered doing this a while ago, but know that the way i do things are a bit hit and miss, though it does only involve things that are easily obtainable... i'll give it a crack.

though i will say now, it is a very heart breaking undertaking at times, and should only be used as a very last resort. the ways that have been successful for me may not be perfect but have worked for me in the past.

I think this is a great idea but I can only add what is not successful! As mch as I'd like to think I'm pragmatic I find it soul destroying to see nestlings perish when I could have done something and so I do and they still perish. After that admission you can take my advice with a grain of salt but for anyone interested in this they need to be prepared before they've even got hatchlings as it's unlikely the average hobbyist will have everything on hand so a list for us boy scouts ("Be Prepared") will at least let us rest easy.

this is going to be a more serious undertaking than i first thought... :problem:
