Hi. I have had 2 very strange chicks born recently.

One is just going through his first moult and i have sexed him as a male.

The second has JUST fledged today so i whipped my phone out and took some pics. Im hoping it will be a hen.

So here is the baby just fledged. who appears to be A dark grey which i have NEVER seen before and there is no registered mutation either.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s242 ... IMG156.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here is the fledged boy. He appears to be lightly pied dark grey. Again i have never seen a bengalese like this.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s242 ... IMG161.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s242 ... IMG160.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s242 ... IMG159.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s242 ... IMG158.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sorry about the picture quality of the boy as i couldnt get him to stay still.

What do you think? I was thinking/hoping of pairing them up. Im not a hundred percent certain though that they are related - brother and sister. its a 20% chance (had some rejected so had to put them with a foster family)

Im thinking this trait i want to keep so its worth inbreeding.

Definitely worth a wait and see. Be interesting to see if adult plumage remains the same. As for the colour of them I have seen Bangalese colour variations to numerous to list, and some of them extremely pretty birds.

Does seem that the first will be a chocolate like tiaris said, would keep them till full adult plumage just to see what the adult colour would be, if 20% sure they are brother and sister I myself wouldn't but in the end its your call, I don't like to breed relations together.

Do look rather more gray than what I have seen so far. And the youngun has early signs of some nice "bird of prey" markings on the chest. Has the boy been singing and dancing already? Or how did you determine the sex?
