Yep, I'll be there. Apparently there have been 40 sign ups so far, so still 80 spots left.

It will fill, apparently Russell kingston will be there assisting and Don Bouke opening it .
Should be interesting and I dare say up to the normal high standard.

I would love to go to this, I assume Newcastle would be the nearest airport I looked on google maps and the STGF is about an hour from there.
The first flight of the day lands at 8.15am and the last one leaves at 5.50pm, not sure if this would be enough time.
Any idea what time it opens/closes ? and any other QLD members thinking of going.

I don't think they are too concerned about it not filling out. The comment was that 40 sign ups so far is more than the same time last year.

Newcastle is the closest airport
I doubt if you would get enough time to enjoy the day. With airlines requiring you to be there around 1hr before plus your travel time
it makes it rushed.
Should you have time you should organise a motel for the Saturday night because there could be a dinner up there in one of the clubs.
I would need to check with the people from the Hunter bird club as they normally organise it. Also we attend the Cessnock bird sale on the Sunday before all heading home. I am sure as we get closer to the date more info will appear.
While it is obviously centered around the Gouldian there is far more there to enjoy. The facility alone is worth the effort.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend. It will be great to see Mike's setup, the birds and meet some forum members.
