I've been reading the legislation section and, frankly, I feel a little bit intimidated.
I am interested to know:
(i) Has anyone managed to LEGALLY import a bird from ACT to NSW that is listed as requiring a license in NSW but not in the ACT (this applies to all birds on the NSW list except doublebars, redbrows and diamonds, as I understand it, the latter three being the ones requiring a license in ACT)?
(ii) Does anyone participate in the latest version of the federal governments exotic species register? As I understand it, compliance is not mandatory for most of the species relevant to this forum.
(iii) Has anyone had any experience of being investigated/prosecuted?
Thank you all in advance,
mm.

If they are registered in one state & not the other, the state they are registered in need to get the appropriate permits & details of the person. eg. I have bought & sold Scaly-Breasted Lorikeets in QLD were they are registered, but they are not hear in NSW, I just gave them my aviary rego, name & address, they had to fill out their movement advice for interstate.

My understanding is that it is a completely voluntary thing . . repeat 'my understanding'
The whole thing seems to have been put into the 'too hard basket' after the EBAG saga
Google "Exotic Bird Registration Scheme" . . It seems a bit vague on the compulsory/voluntary bit . . Perhaps deliberately so
Anybody?????

No finches are to be compelled to be recorded/regulated/registered under the scheme. If you wish to do so you may. Not this black duck though - far too much government regulation in my life as is.

I did wonder, when I saw Gallus gallus (aka Chooks) on the list, if they were serious...
