One of our birds managed to get it's plastic leg ring caught on the top part of the leg. I have removed the ring and there
is a small amount of blood on that part of the leg, apart from not being able to perch properly it appears fine. What is a safe
antiseptic to use? I have some betadine swabs, are these ok to use?
Cheers Greg.

I've used betadine before with no ill effects... if it's just a small amount of blood it will probably heal very quickly and be right as rain soon. What bird was it, and what type of leg ring? Just out of curiosity...

Hi Spanna, Gouldian and a split plastic ring, same as Iv'e used on all the larger Finches, I use small Ali split rings on the smaller birds.
I think that it must have caught on something and being pushed up the leg, all the plastic rings seem to be a bit looser on the legs.
Cheers Greg.
