I was thinking,
Of building an aviary and getting a pair of hooded parrots are they hard to breed and what are there requirements and do you think I am experienced enough to breed them?. (I have bred red rumps very successfully before).
Thanks Nathan

Very attainable these days and affordable . Nice birds . No license required in NSW .
They were on the most wanted list here but the Purplies and Princess's won out .
Not real sure on ease of breeding , think nests need to be tweaked as they nest in termite mounds in the wild .
Not real sure again but I think Tintola has them.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Deb,
Do you have any idea how much they cost per pair?. And do you think a 2x2x2 aviary would be big enough for a breeding pair on there own?.
Thanks Nathan

No idea about aviary size but I would imagine it needs to be bigger . My Red Rumps have a 2.4 x 1.2 flight each pair and I dont think that is really big enough .
Cost of uncoloured pair at Forbes was $180.00 .

Make sure you have adequate housing for these birds before you buy them.

Hello Deb,
Would a 2x2x2 aviary be ok just for one pair? or is that to small?.
Thanks Nathan

I think myself it would be too small . If that's the only size aviary available to you why not consider a smaller parrot with less flight space needs .
