Hullo again, Vic.
I was talking to a bloke in Sydney this morning about some birds and he reckons there are quite a lot of double-bars in Sydney petshops at present.
You could ring a few and see...
I'll still send you those contact details when I get home, but you might have some before then by the sound of things.
I also had a great response to my first post in the classifieds here - give that a go too.
Good luck,
mm.

I know a bloke in Berkeley (Illawarra, south of W-gong) with double-bars; I am interstate right now, but could get his details to you when I get home.
Of course, you can likely find them closer to home.
Hi Matty,
Thanks once again but over the week end I sussed out a breeder of double bars in rooty hill and managed to score a couple for myself so fingers crossed I'll have some success going forward

Hello vpacker ,
I live in freshwater about 5 minutes away I also lost some cordon blues to butcher birds. I am going to a pet shop that sells double barred finches and I am going to buy 4 pairs to start a colony in my new aviary. If you like I could get you a couple of pairs of double barred finches and just pass on the cost to you there $45. I have 2 aviary’s and the birds I have are:
7 Gouldian’s
1 Blue Faced parrot finch ( My hen blue faced parrot finch also died for no apparent reason I didn’t even find her body)
4 star finches (I’m going to buy 1 more pair and colony breed them)
14 zebra finches
2 Bengalis manikins
2 diamond doves
1 red rump
1 cockatiel
I have had a lot of success with a lot of the birds.
Thanks Nathan

Great to hear somebody lives close by my neck of the woods. Thanks for offer re Double bars but I sussed out a good supply eventually and now have a colony on 8 of the lttle buggars.I too have two avairies. One I'm dedicating to the D bars the other I have a pair of Mask finches which are breeding, Male Cordon and a male Plum head, that's it at present. I also had Melbas, Red/blue parrot finches, Diamond fire tails and ruddies, but as explained they flew the coupe by accident or butcher birds did a number on them.
Thanks Vic

Hello Vic,
Where did you get your double barred finches from as I am after one more pair could I possibly get them off of the guy you got them from?. And if you ever want to swap blood lines just let me know. I have had a bit of trouble with my finches I lost a pair of blue faced parrot finches recently which is a shame. What are the measurements of your aviary?. And do you have the white rump double barred finch sub species?.
Thanks Nathan
