I was checking the mouse snap traps set up around the garden this morning and one trap had caught one, but not the usual grey brown mouse this one was normal colour and white not just a bit of white either. Overall about half of it was white. I thought when I caught a mouse the other day that the very end of its tail was white but thought I was seeing things (not wearing glasses)
So it seems not only not only has a new family of mice moved into the garden they are mutations too! Probably someones pet escaped sometime.

Oh, Go on! Most of us have seen a dead mouse. You could prop it up so it looks alive.

Careful you could start a whole new debate on the lack of pure normal mice.

Ok you asked for it.
I wasnt getting hold of it and dragging it out of the bin for anyone! The other mouse you can see just at the top, the tip of its tail was white.

Thanks Di, You are a brave girl. I had a similar thing happen when I was in my teens. One of my white male mice escaped and bred with the wild population in the aviary. Piebald ones turned up for years. I suspect that is what has happened in your case.

That's just what I said to my husband when I showed it to him before it got turfed in the bin. Just what I need, not only do we have a mouse plague but pet mice are being set free/escaping too!
Haven't seen evidence in the aviaries, no dug up bits and no smell. but I wont use poison in my garden cos of the dogs and the birds. So I just set undercover snap traps all over the garden.
Mind you Ive been keeping on top of them, had a few in the beginning, then none for a while then only caught about 7 in the last 2 months. Only thing that worried me is if Ive only caught 7, that means the ones who escape are getting smarter, I will have to check out the garden very carefully in the future....they might be that smart they start setting people traps...

Does anyone around you have pet mice, where the infiltrator could have come from?

I hope you keep a population of non mutation going so that we don't lose them.
