Scaly-face mite tends to be quite itchy and would have spread over the entire face over time, eventually appearing like crusty honeycomb.
If it hasn't spread, and the area is not red, itchy or greasy then I wouldn't panic. You may find at the next moult that the feathers regrow, unless the feather follicles have been permanently damaged.
