Parrotlets in WA

Have been hearing that Parrotlets arent in WA ,are they illigal or just very hard to come by ? So dissapointing they look and sound wonderful I'd love one

hmm still trying to find one. give DEC a call they can give a list of the birds allowed in WA...still dont believe me do you from gumtree...... pete

The declared/proscribed species (2009) are listed in the Legal Requirements section. Parrotlets aren't on the list so I presume if they aren't in WA it's not because they are banned. Best Check with the authorities first before importing.

They are on the 2007 list of exotic birds in Australia but any new importations are banned. ABK had an article on them several years ago, and I seem to recall the very small numbers that existed back then came from birds that arrived before the ban but I haven't heard any mention of them for years.

They are considered high risk as likely to spread disease or become feral.
