I work in a animal labratory and we feed chalk to mice for extra calcium and to help kick start there breeding.I was wondering could we use plain white chalk for calcium aid on birds? What i would do is grind the chalk up and sprinkle it on sprout seed or put it in soft food. Of course only in little portions I have done this with cuttlefish and thought maybe chalk can be used in similar way if not harmfull to birds?
Cheers

The chalk is made from 100% calcium carbonate.
I know the calcium is fine but not sure about carbonate.
Any ideas?
