The good news is that you can have them!
The bad news is that you'll have to move out of W.A. to do so.
Apparently they are the new rabbit plague in W.A.

Well no one wants pests taking over no matter how beautiful they are . Maybe they'd take over our Native nesting spots or kill off some of our small Birds ? Look at the Lorikeets that are over here gorgeous birds but are a pest in some peoples eyes. I suppose we gotta look after our Native Species first . The Red Eared Firetail are becoming more and more un available maybe due to pests I dont know. This is only my opinion of course and it is a shame we in WA miss out on quite a few Birds when they're allowed in other states :/ What are your thoughts :)

Think you are right, it is because having a dryer environment with less food for the native birds, introduced species can cause problems a lot more easily by taking over the food and nest sites. And we can claim pest free food crops which no where else can. And even though we can't have things the "othersiders" can we have more lenient and cheaper licensing regulations, but don;t tell the authorities. :silent:

I agree and i dont want anything non native running around our country side. But i feel for you guys.... makes it hard for you guys just to keep exotics as pets.

Wouldn't be too sure about the cheap licensing, export of snake out of WA is $180 for upto 5 snakes, then $10 a pop after that. Over here it's $30 if you want 1 or 100.
