Hi all-very grateful for all the responses-had a singapore bird vet stay at my place last night on way to WA. Says that same problen in Phillipines and humid times in Singapore-his advice, NEVER use sprouted seed in the tropics. Thanks for all the replies and valuable advice. Can someone tell me if store bought madiera cake is ok for finches-I only have Woolies or Coles to choose from.

I am going to try the soft food vegie mix and hope the buggers eat it. Also is insectiverous cake worth feeding if they eat it?. My jacarinis-RFPF-OBW and BC Cordons eats heaps of mealies and I thought th might be a good supplement. I will try and find a recipe if worthwhile. Unfortunately termites are hard to come by up here, surprisingly.

Love you guys
Kenny

Cheaper to buy the Woolies & Coles brand Butter or Vanilla cake mixes & cook it yourself, you can also add any extras you want to the mix as well.

Totally agree with giving up on the sprouted seed .
And yes I alternate between my bird bread and madiera cake .

I did try the make it yourself cake mixes with the extras but couldn't get it to turn out right , do what suits you and your birds ...its your hobby after all . :D
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.
