I worked at a vets years ago as a dog groomer, we regularly got birds in everything fom blackbirds to lorikeets and galahs, the vet I woked for was brilliant and myself and one of the nurses did a lot of rehab work with some of the bigger parrots (I did a lori and a galah, she did a few loris) we nearly always managed to release the birds that came in the only ones that were PTS were those with extensive injuries or pest species....my undestanding was that a Vet is required under their code of practice to provide treatment to wildlife if they believed they could be released.
