I just have to ask....what is the purpose of the branches between the rock faces in the 2nd pic? I can see at least 3 there.

We were about 400Kms north of Perth, the branches are tree trunks to help stabilize the walls of the shaft, although not all that far
out of Perth it is a quiet part of the country. Unfortunately most of the wild flowers were just about finished.
Cheers Greg.

Definitely a great part of the world, and with the recent rains we were surrounded by nature at its best, the morning "goonk goonk" of the local Emus heralded dawn each morning, the circling Hawks and the abundant Budgies, Quail and other birds where glorious. Those old mine shafts were a tribute to just how brave those old miners must have been. But as we didn't find the big nugget i'm back to work.. Yay!
