very excited - this morning i heard a hungry brood of redbrows begging for the first time! both parents are madly foraging for green seed and insects as well as stuffing themselves at the seed tray. i really didn't think my first brood after 20 years would be redbrows! longtails are also sitting, but no sound from them yet. as i recall, in most aussie finches the chicks start begging (with sound) at about a week old?

Great news about the red-brows. I wish I could be so lucky. Actually skill in managing and feeding your birds has a lot to do with it to so you should be congreadulated especially with such a finicky species.

Apart from Diamonds and Gouldians (who you can't miss), I often don't hear the others until they're close to fledging. Might be my bodgy hearing though!jluna wrote:as i recall, in most aussie finches the chicks start begging (with sound) at about a week old?
