Birds take sun-bath,water-bath and dust-bath to get clean, health and rid themselves of the parasites.
sun-bath,water-bath and the most important for the birds dust bath ...
these 3 conditions indispensable conditions for the birds.
espicially for the goldfinches ;dust-bath indispensable condition because of prevent Going Light...

Hi Batuhan and welcome to the forum if you haven't already been welcomed.

I agree that all 3 forms of bathing are important.

However, i don't understand your statement:
batuhan wrote:dust-bath indispensable condition because of prevent Going Light...
How does dust bathing prevent "going light"?
Going light is not a disease itself- it is merely a clinical sign of several diseases which can cause weight loss over a long period of time.
What do you base your statement on?

Kind regards

Hmmm how would one see to them having a dust bath if in a suspended aviary or a aviary without a earth floor ?
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Shallow bowl of clean sand would probably do the trick, at least it would give them the option :) i think my quails would die without their daily dust bath silly things :)

Agreed. Take any bowl suitable for a water bowl and half fill with sand. I quite often see my quails sprawled out in the sand looking more than a little dead, only to suddenly sit up from their warm sunbake and sand/dust bath and look at me like I'm the one doing weird things...

you are right with your question.

I mean :
at least-minimum we have to do someting for them.
we must/must not:

1-we must follow the nature as much as we can..
if the largest cage is nature, they need larger cage than they have at present.

2-we musn't touch them(never)
we must use net or transfer must be from cage to cage

3-goldfinches like bath very much in the wild.
we must present sun-bath,water-bath,dust-bath every day

4-unless the birds get sick we musn't give drugs BUT IF the birds are sick;

5-going light is the most killer dease in goldfinches(batuhan)
''Amphotericin B is the only drug so far that has proven effective against the disease''.

6-goldfnches are not like other birds
we musn't touch them, disturb them,to keep an eye on their nest.(never keep an eye on their nest espicially the hen is in it)

7-we must present them :
sun-light,daylight,fresh air,fresh water.

8-in spring goldfinches like-enjoy;
milky seeds,insects,greens.

9-we musn't use heating system for goldfinches

So going light in goldfinches in your country is also caused by megabacteria/avian gastric yeast/ Macrorhabdus- whichever name you chose to call it.
In that case yes amphotericin is the drug of choice, although some other medications are showing promise.

I agree with your statements about providing the right environment for your birds and minimising stress.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers
