Just wondering if there are any ill effects to birds if they have a infra red heat lamp as a heat source when being hand reared or are ill ?

Im talking about a 40 watt lamp with a thermostat set at 28 degrees .

far as I know thats what most European and English breeders use when their birds are ill?
